ṭhēvaṇa (ठेवण).—n (ṭhēvaṇēṃ) A place of alighting or putting up; an encamping or halting or lodging place: also an anchorage. 2 f The foundation in a well of the masonry, i. e. the rock or hard ground upon which, as a bottom or holding place, the masonry rises: also a common term for the ledges or rims above it, viewed as successive bases or resting places for the masonry. Hence 3 Foundation, solid ground, firm place of reliance (in speech, conduct, course).
