ṭhāṭhū (ठाठू) [or ठांठूं, ṭhāṇṭhūṃ].—n (Imit. of the sound.) The noise of repeated discharges of musketry, of many musical instruments &c. 2 Used also as chāñchūṃ under which see particularly. Note. Of imitative formations but few have well defined boundaries of sense. Every one is at times confounded with some other and similar one. Fancy, as she directed the original formation of them, is now the directress of the application and use of them.
