Source: What is India: Annual Report on Indian Epigraphy (1945-1952)Tezpur is an archaeologically important site situated in Darrang district (Assam), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Tezpur there is a noulder in the bed of the Brahmaputra river about 1½ miles from the town. Contains Sanskrit inscriptions in a Northern Alphabet.
This inscription belongs to king Harjaravarman of the Mlechchha (Sālastambha) dynasty. It is dated Gupta 510.
