taṭataṭa (तटतट) [or टां, ṭāṃ].—ad Imit. of certain light and sharp sounds emitted in quick succession (as of the bursting of stitches, issuing of sparks, snapping of cords, splitting and popping of grain on the parching pan, spitting and sputtering of things frying &c. &c. v tuṭa, phuṭa, suṭa, uḍa, ukala, cira, tōḍa, phōḍa &c. 2 Imit. of the sound according to poetic or popular fancy of sudden severing or parting. Ex. sōḍī vāṇāpāṭhīṃ bāṇa || rākṣasāñcīṃ śirēṃ jāṇa || taṭa- taṭāṃ tōḍīta ||.
