ṭappā (टप्पा).—m ( H) A certain air, a variety of song. 2 Range (of a ball, arrow &c.) gun-shot, bowshot. 3 A distance; a space or an extent of line between. Ex. tyā gāṃvāsa dāhā kōsāñcā ṭappā āhē. 4 A stage; a halting place; esp. a place where relays of post-runners, hammals &c. are posted: also the relay placed: a resting place up an ascent: a landing place of a stairs. 5 The bound (of a ball &c.) 6 A mode of sewing. 7 fig. The reach or drift, the sphere or grasp (of a speech, of mind or capacity). 8 A division of a country,--one great town with villages and lands dependent. See under dēśa. ṭappā khāūna yēṇēṃ To rebound--a ball &c. 2 fig.
