Talagirisvara Temple is an archaeologically important site containing ancient Pallava paintings.—The Pallavas were great patrons of art. The Tālagirīśvara temple at Panamalai in the Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu is one of two shrines that bear testimony to Pallava painting. A small shrine to the north has a small section of a mural painting of an exquisite female figure, her leg bent, standing against a wall and with an umbrella above her.
