他端 [tā duān] [ta duan]—
Other (其他 [qi ta]). Mostly refers to other plans, countermeasures, or things/matters. From Records of the Grand Historian (《史記 [shi ji]》), Volume 77, Biography of Lord Wei Xinling (《魏公子列傳 [wei gong zi lie chuan]》): "Now there is trouble, and without other means you wish to go to the Qin army (秦軍 [qin jun]); it's like throwing meat to a starving tiger (餒虎 [nei hu]), what merit would there be in that?" From Qing (清 [qing]) Dynasty's Wang Xianqian (王先謙 [wang xian qian]), Memorial on Foreign Affairs (《條陳洋務事宜疏 [tiao chen yang wu shi yi shu]》): "Indeed, things (物 [wu]) must await their time to manifest, and talent (才 [cai]) must be honed through experience (練事 [lian shi]) to be perfected. Other matters can all be taught through books and transmitted by teachers, but military strategy (用兵 [yong bing]) cannot be fully understood without personal involvement (身親 [shen qin])."
