Compact; short and well-set; light-limbed: knit for activity and briskness; light and tight; dapper and smart;--a person or his form and make: also light and compactly made up;--as a bundle, load &c.: little and neat; close and pretty; snug, trim, nice;--as a house or building: small, confined within just bounds, upon a conveniently manageable scale;--as a business or concern, an establishment. The word is freely used to express the quality opposite to Bulky, huge, lubberly, unwieldy, clumsy, cumbersome.
