Suṣṭhu (सुष्ठु) refers to “exceedingly (tasteless)”, according to the 11th century Jñānārṇava, a treatise on Jain Yoga in roughly 2200 Sanskrit verses composed by Śubhacandra.—Accordingly, “All the connections arising from the ocean of life are the abode of bad luck for human beings [and] thus, in the end, [the connections] are exceedingly tasteless (suṣṭhu nīrasāḥ)”.
