Suśītāmbu (सुशीताम्बु) refers to “cool water” (suitable for giving to Hawks), according to the Śyainika-śāstra: a Sanskrit treatise dealing with the divisions and benefits of Hunting and Hawking, written by Rājā Rudradeva (or Candradeva) in possibly the 13th century.—Accordingly, [while discussing the treatment of hawks]: “[...] Cool water (suśītāmbu) should he given to them now and again; they shold be given the Hesh of Kalaviṅka and of Vāja not kept for a long time, and such other light and tasteful food as they can digest. By degrees the quantities should be increased for their health. [...]”.
