The text Sūryānandar Sūttiram consists of thirteen long verses of virutta metre. In the opening verse, he venerated Lord Dakṣiṇāmūrti, God as preceptor or divine guru. He mentioned that the mystic knowledge of the Siddha system was originally communicated by Śiva who in turn revealed the same to Sūryānandar. The real name of the Siddha is not known.
