In the opening verse, he venerated Lord Dakṣiṇāmūrti, God as preceptor or divine guru. He mentioned that the mystic knowledge of the Siddha system was originally communicated by Śiva who in turn revealed the same to Sūryānandar. The real name of the Siddha is not known.
Shaiva (शैव, śaiva) or Shaivism (śaivism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshiping Shiva as the supreme being. Closely related to Shaktism, Shaiva literature includes a range of scriptures, including Tantras, while the root of this tradition may be traced back to the ancient Vedas.
