Instigating and spreading rumors. From The Zhugongdiao of Liu Zhiyuan, First: "Called Jin'er (進兒 [jin er]) and Chao'er (超兒 [chao er]), listening to people's instigations, they shouted angrily at us." From Qingping Mountain Hall Stories: The Tale of Quick-Tongued Li Cuilian: "Little sister-in-law, you are so unvirtuous, going to the room to instigate mother. If mother beats me to death, I'll capture you alive to see King Yama (閻王 [yan wang])." Also written as "挑唆 [tiao suo] (tiaosuo)."
唆調:教唆、搬弄是非。《劉知遠諸宮調.第一》:「喚作進兒,超兒,聽人唆調,與俺怒叫暄。」《清平山堂話本.快嘴李翠蓮記》:「小姑你好不賢良,便去房中唆調娘,若是婆婆打殺我,活捉你去見閻王。」也作「挑唆」。
