Purana and Itihasa (epic history)

2) Sunāmā (सुनामा).—Son of King Ugrasena. Brother of Kaṃsa. Sunāmā was killed by Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Balabhadrarāma. (Sabhā Parva, Chapter 14, Verse 34).
3) Sunāmā (सुनामा).—A son of Garuḍa who had many children. (Udyoga Parva, Chapter 101, Verse 2).
4) Sunāmā (सुनामा).—A warrior of Subrahmaṇya. (Śalya Parva, Chapter 45, Verse 59).

Sunāma (सुनाम) is a name mentioned in the Mahābhārata (cf. IX.44.55) and represents one of the many proper names used for people and places. Note: The Mahābhārata (mentioning Sunāma) is a Sanskrit epic poem consisting of 100,000 ślokas (metrical verses) and is over 2000 years old.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
