Suṃsumārapura (सुंसुमारपुर) or Sunsumārapura is the name of a village visited by Mahāvīra during his twelfth year of spiritual-exertion.—Completing the rainy season halt (at Samara), the Lord reached ‘Suṃsumārapura’. Here Bhūtānanda came and enquired after the Lord's well-being and said –“In some time you will attain pure intuition and pure knowledge”. From Suṃsumārapura the Lord reached Bhojapura, Nandigrāma and Meḍhiyāgrāma.
