Yoga (school of philosophy)
Students are denoted by the Sanskrit term Śiṣya, according to the Amanaska Yoga treatise dealing with meditation, absorption, yogic powers and liberation.—Accordingly, as Īśvara says to Vāmadeva: “[...] One should reveal this teaching [only] to those superior students (su-śiṣya) [who are] restrained, clever, constantly desiring liberation and have confidence [in the efficacy of this path. This teaching must be studied always with diligence by those desirous of liberation. By merely keeping it [in mind], the highest reality manifests naturally. [...]”.

Yoga is originally considered a branch of Hindu philosophy (astika), but both ancient and modern Yoga combine the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga teaches various physical techniques also known as āsanas (postures), used for various purposes (eg., meditation, contemplation, relaxation).
