Source: Shodhganga: The Kavyavilasa of Ciranjiva Bhattacarya (kavyashastra)Sphuṭānuprāsa (स्फुटानुप्रास) refers to one of the four varieties of Anuprāsa: one of the 93 alaṃkāras (“figures of speech”) mentioned by Cirañjīva Bhaṭṭācārya (fl. 17th century) in his Kāvyavilāsa, listed as one of the 4 śabdālaṃkāras (figure of speech determined by sound, as opposed to the sense).—When a word is repeated in the beginning, middle or end, even though the consonants or vowels related to that word be different it is spuṭānuprāsa.
Example of the spuṭānuprāsa-alaṃkāra:—
he mitra! ayaṃ yogī gṛhāśramatyāga-pūrvaṃ kṛtayogābhyāsaḥ paścādyogāccyuto bhogīva bhogavān gṛhastha iva saṃyāti tamimamubhayalokacyutaṃ tvaṃ paśya ||
Notes: In this example the words yogi and bhogi repetition is found with some difference of consonants like y and bh. So it is an example of sphuṭānuprāsa.
