sōnakāvaḷā (सोनकावळा).—m (Golden crow.) Crow-pheasant, the bird described and named under kukkuṭakumbhā. 2 About Ratnagiri this term is applied to the crow commonly called kṛṣṇakāvaḷā. 3 The term is understood by many as synonymous with pāṇḍharā kāva- ḷā, implying a fabulous bird, a crow for the credulous. sō0 śivalā The answer made by gossips to a child's inquiry respecting its mother's or a woman's impurity.
