Source: ORA: Amanaska (king of all yogas): A Critical Edition and Annotated Translation by Jason BirchSnigdhī (स्निग्धी) refers to “glossy”, according to the Yogaśāstra (verse 12.37).—Accordingly, “Now, softness of the body [arises when the highest reality manifests,] even without rubbing one’s perspiration [back into the body,] and this illuminating reality makes [the body] glossy (snigdhī-karaṇa) without oil”.
Yoga is originally considered a branch of Hindu philosophy (astika), but both ancient and modern Yoga combine the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga teaches various physical techniques also known as āsanas (postures), used for various purposes (eg., meditation, contemplation, relaxation).
