Source: Shodhganga: The saurapurana - a critical studyŚūlavrata (शूलव्रत) or simply Śūla refers to type of Vrata (“religious observances”), according to the 10th century Saurapurāṇa: one of the various Upapurāṇas depicting Śaivism.—Accordingly, The Śūla-vrata is descirbed in the Saurapurāṇa 43.19ff by the Sūta. [...] The performer of this Śūla-vrata becomes released from all great sins like Brahmanicide and in the end attains liberation (pāragatiṃ).
