Source: What is India: Annual Report on Indian Epigraphy (1945-1952)Sholinghur is an archaeologically important site situated in Walajah-taluk (Arcot district, Madras), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Sholinghur there is a Tamil inscription on the east wall of the maṇḍapa in front of the Tāyār shrine at the Narasiṃhasvāmin temple on the hill. It seems to register the gift of land by Śinna Nāraṇappar, son of Śiriya Timmayan and grandson of Nambarai Nāraṇappar, towards food offerings to god Akkārakkani Nāraśiṅgapperumāl at Ghaṭikāchala, by the temple authorities including the Pakṣirāja parikaram, the muddirai of Kandāḍai Appaṅgar.
This inscription belongs to king Veṅkaṭapatidevamahārāya of the Vijayanagara dynasty and is dated Śaka 1527.
