Sholingar (Katikai) refers to one of the 108 divyadesas according to Priyavaccan Pillai’s compendium of the Ramayana based on the Nalayirativviyappirapantam.—Katikai is close to Valasapettai on the Chennai-Bangalore Highway. No Mulavigraha at the bottom of the hill and the Utsavamurti is Bhaktavatsala Perumal. On the hill top, the temple is for Yoga-Narasimha. The temple is associated with sage Visvamitra who stayed here for a katikai (fraction of time) to attain moksa.
