Śivānandasarasvatī (शिवानन्दसरस्वती) or Śivānanda is the author of the Yogacintāmaṇi, a 17th-century text on Haṭhayoga consisting of 3423 verses.—The approximate number of verses is given in a scribal comment at the end of a manuscript of the Yogacintāmaṇi held at the Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute (ms. No. 9785 p. 257, line 14).

Yoga is originally considered a branch of Hindu philosophy (astika), but both ancient and modern Yoga combine the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga teaches various physical techniques also known as āsanas (postures), used for various purposes (eg., meditation, contemplation, relaxation).
