In Jainism
Jain philosophy
Source: archive.org: Anekanta Jaya Pataka of Haribhadra SuriŚivagati (शिवगति) refers to the “fifth gati” or the “grade of salvation”, as used in the Anekāntajayapatākā-prakaraṇa, a Śvetāmbara Jain philosophical work written by Haribhadra Sūri.—[Cf. Vol. I, P. 1, l. 11.]—According to Jamism there are only four grades of existence (gatis), and they are associated with four types of living beings viz. celestial (deva) human (manuṣya), infernal (nāraka) and sub-human (tiryac) respectively. So śivagati is only a metaphorical conception, and hence it is at times referred to as the fifth gati. It means a grade of salvation.
