1) To relax, slacken, loosen; शिथिलितमानग्रहणो वाति दक्षिणपवनः (śithilitamānagrahaṇo vāti dakṣiṇapavanaḥ) Ratnāvalī 1.14.
2) To give up, abandon; शिथिलय क्षणमात्रं बाष्पमोक्षम् (śithilaya kṣaṇamātraṃ bāṣpamokṣam) Ve.5.
3) To lessen, allow to cool down; न सा इतोगतमनुरागं शिथिलयति (na sā itogatamanurāgaṃ śithilayati) V.2.
