Source: ORA: Amanaska (king of all yogas): A Critical Edition and Annotated Translation by Jason BirchŚiśnodara (शिश्नोदर) refers to the “genitals and stomach”, according to sources such as the Amanaskayoga 1.6, the Dattātreyayogaśāstra 47, the Brahmānanda's Jyotsnā 1.11 and the Yogataraṅgiṇī (epilogue).—Accordingly, “According to tradition, [mere] robe-wearers who do not perform religious duties deceive people by speaking of yoga for the sake of [satisfying their] genitals and stomach (śiśnodara-artha)”.
Yoga is originally considered a branch of Hindu philosophy (astika), but both ancient and modern Yoga combine the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga teaches various physical techniques also known as āsanas (postures), used for various purposes (eg., meditation, contemplation, relaxation).
