Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionaryśiḷāsaptamī (शिळासप्तमी).—f The seventh of the light half of Shrawan̤, on which day are certain observances. Originally a woman placed her vāṇa or offering to the river-god (to restore a drowned man) upon a stone (śiḷā) on the river's bank. The observance is, in modern times, with the object of obtaining offspring, or long life and exemption from evil for one's offspring.
