Śikaṃjā (शिकंजा) [Also spelled shikanja]:—(nm) a clamp, pressing appliance; clasp, grasp, clutches; ~[jā kasanā] to tighten the grasp; ~[je meṃ khīṃcanā] to torture; ~[je meṃ jakaḍanā] to hold tight in one’s grasp; ~[je meṃ phaṃsanā] to fall into the clutches (of).
