十二夢王 [shi er meng wang]—Twelve Dream Kings — [Miscellaneous Name] In the practice of the samadhi (三昧 [san mei]) of Mahayana sutras (方等 [fang deng]), there are twelve divine beings (神明 [shen ming]) who appear in dreams and grant auspicious signs. The Great Mahayana Dhāraṇī Sūtra (大方等陀羅尼經 [da fang deng tuo luo ni jing]), Volume 1, states: "The Buddha told Huaju, 'I now tell you: Do not rashly propagate such a wonderful Dharma. You should take divine beings (神明 [shen ming]) as witnesses. Why are they called divine beings (神明 [shen ming])?
