拾翠 [shí cuì] [shi cui]—
1. To pick up kingfisher feathers as ornaments. Southern Dynasties Liang Dynasty, Ji Shaoyu's (紀少瑜 [ji shao yu]) poem "Visiting Jianxing Garden" (遊建興苑 [you jian xing yuan]): "Hesitating, pitying the picking of cuì (翠 [cui], kingfisher feathers), looking back, regretting the lost hairpin."
2. Women picking flowers and plants during a spring outing. Tang Dynasty, Du Fu's (杜甫 [du fu]) "Autumn Thoughts" (秋興 [qiu xing]) eight poems, number seven: "Beautiful women ask about picking cuì (翠 [cui], greenery/flowers) in spring, fairy companions move together in a boat later in the evening."
拾翠:1.揀拾翠鳥羽毛以為妝飾。南朝梁.紀少瑜〈遊建興苑〉詩:「踟躕憐拾翠,顧步惜遺簪。」
2.婦女春遊採拾花草。唐.杜甫〈秋興〉詩八首之七:「佳人拾翠春相問,仙侶同舟晚更移。」
shí cuì:1. jiǎn shí cuì niǎo yǔ máo yǐ wèi zhuāng shì. nán cháo liáng. jì shǎo yú 〈yóu jiàn xìng yuàn〉 shī: “chí chú lián shí cuì, gù bù xī yí zān.”
2. fù nǚ chūn yóu cǎi shí huā cǎo. táng. dù fǔ 〈qiū xìng〉 shī bā shǒu zhī qī: “jiā rén shí cuì chūn xiāng wèn, xiān lǚ tóng zhōu wǎn gèng yí.”
