Source: What is India: Annual Report on Indian Epigraphy (1945-1952)Sheshagiri or Śēṣagiri is an archaeologically important site situated in Hangal-taluk (Dharwar district), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Sheshagiri there is a lamp-pillar set up before Ānjaneya temple which states that the lamp pillar was installed with devotion by Bālappa, the Deśāyi, Deśakulakaraṇi and Nāḍakarṇi of Naregal-sīme. It is dated Śālivāhana Śaka 1735 (1814 A.C., February 7).
