神農本草經 [shén nóng běn cǎo jīng] [shen nong ben cao jing]—
Title of a book. Believed to have been written before the Eastern Han Dynasty, it is a work recording ancient Chinese medicines, containing 365 kinds of drugs. It records plants, animals, minerals, brewed beverages and foods, and a few chemical products. Because it mainly contains herbs (草類 [cao lei]), it is called "Shen Nong's Materia Medica". The original book is no longer extant, but there is a compiled version by Sun Xingyan (孫星衍 [sun xing yan]) and others in the Qing Dynasty. It is abbreviated as "Materia Medica" (本草 [ben cao]) or "Ben Cao Jing" (本草經 [ben cao jing]).
神農本草經：書名。約成書於東漢以前，為記載中國古代藥物的著作，收藥物三百六十五種。記載植物、動物、礦物和釀造的飲料食品及少數化學製品等，因以草類居多，故稱為「神農本草經」。今原書不傳，有清孫星衍等輯本。簡稱為「本草」、「本草經」。
