Śarāvasampuṭa (शरावसम्पुट) refers to a process used in the metallurgical process for creating nāgabhasma, (Māraṇa step):—[...] Dried pellets were in the range of approximately 5-6 grams per pellet. Pellets were kept in two separate earthen pots and packed by other earthen pots by cotton mud (sandhi-bandhana). This is called śarāva-sampuṭa. [...] The samples of nāga-bhasma obtained from first puṭa (both ‘traditional’ and ‘electric muffle furnace’ puṭa methods) were used in next (second) puṭa. Śuddha-manaḥśilā was added in 1/20th part to the sample of nāga-bhasma obtained from first puṭa and triturated with Citrus limon Linn. juice till it became a semisolid paste. This paste was made into small pellets and dried in shade and pellets were kept in two separate earthen pots (śarāva-sampuṭa).

Śarāvasampuṭa (शरावसम्पुट) refers to a certain “arrangement of heating in a pit”, according to a study performed on the drug named Vasantakusumākara Rasa—a classical herbo-mineral formulation which is practiced since ancient times for various therapeutic purposes, said to bring new positive energy in body and life, glow to skin etc.—Accordingly, while describing Śarāvasampuṭa: “To reduce any metal or mineral into bhasma form, it is triturated with other prescribed drugs and made to a paste. Out of this paste, small round and flat cakes (cakrikās) are prepared and dried under sun. Thereafter, these cakrikās are kept inside two earthen plates and the joint of these plates is sealed by wrapping seven layers of mud smeared cloth. This is dried under sun before being subjected to a Puṭa”.
