Source: Brill: Śaivism and the Tantric Traditions (architecture)Śāntadiś (शान्तदिश्) refers to an “auspicious direction” [?], according to the Devyāmata (in the section śalyoddhāra-paṭala or “excavation of extraneous substances”).—Accordingly, “If a bird sings sweetly in an auspicious direction (śāntadiś—śāntāyāṃ diśi), then [the officiant] should prognosticate a treasure there”.
