善劫 [shan jie]—Good Kalpa — [Term] Another name for Bhadrakalpa (贤劫 [xian jie]). The Mahāprajñāpāramitā Upadeśa (智度论 [zhi du lun]) explains Bhadrakalpa (贤劫 [xian jie]) in the scripture, stating: "Kalpa (劫簸 [jie bo]), in Qin (ancient Chinese), means 'distinguishing time periods' (分别时节 [fen bie shi jie]). Bhadra (颰陀 [ba tuo]), in Qin (ancient Chinese), means 'good' (善 [shan]). There were tens of millions of kalpas (劫 [jie]) in the past that were empty and devoid of Buddhas. In this kalpa, a thousand Buddhas arise, and because of this, all the Pure Abode Devas (净居天 [jing ju tian]) rejoice. Therefore, it is named the Good Kalpa."
善劫—【術語】賢劫之異名。智度論釋經文之賢劫曰:「劫簸,秦言分別時節。颰陀者,秦言善。有千萬劫過去空無有佛,是一劫中有千佛興,諸淨居天歡喜故。名為善劫。」

刪節 [shān jié] [shan jie]—
Remove superfluous words and make the sentences concise. For example: "delete redundant phrases" (浮辭 [fu ci]). Qing Dynasty, Zhao Yi, Oubei Poetry Talks, Volume 10, Cha Chubai's Poetry: "Chubai's (查初白 [cha chu bai]) ancient style poetry is slightly verbose. ...Works such as Watching the Imperial Guards Hunting Tigers (賜觀侍衛射虎 [ci guan shi wei she hu]) and Lou Jingsi's Pacifying the Southern Barbarians Song (樓敬思平蠻歌 [lou jing si ping man ge]), although full of vigor, ultimately need to be pruned."
刪節:刪去蕪辭,使語句精簡。如:「刪節浮辭」。清.趙翼《甌北詩話.卷一○.查初白詩》:「初白古詩,微嫌冗長。……賜觀侍衛射虎、樓敬思平蠻歌等作,雖氣力沛然有餘,究須刪節。」
shān jié: shān qù wú cí, shǐ yǔ jù jīng jiǎn. rú: “shān jié fú cí” . qīng. zhào yì < ōu běi shī huà. juǎn yī○. chá chū bái shī>: “chū bái gǔ shī, wēi xián rǒng zhǎng.……cì guān shì wèi shè hǔ,, lóu jìng sī píng mán gē děng zuò, suī qì lì pèi rán yǒu yú, jiū xū shān jié.”
