Śāmbhavāvasthā (शाम्भवावस्था) refers to “Śiva’s state”, according to the Manthānabhairavatantra, a vast sprawling work that belongs to a corpus of Tantric texts concerned with the worship of the goddess Kubjikā.—[... By piercing the Wheels with the energy of the Command], [the Goddess] merges into the energy of the Command [i.e., ājñā]. This is the highest form of Yoga through which the goddess and all who share in her achievement attain the omniscience realised in Śiva’s state (śāmbhavāvasthā). This is the supreme state of the Command, the attainment of which the Kubjikā teachings claim is their prerogative and unique pride. From this the goddess emerges in her differentiated (sakalā) iconic form, as the will from which the universe is emitted2 that she has encompassed within herself when she withdrew into the Liṅga.
