Śālatoraṇa (शालतोरण).—A type of toraṇa, or “ornamental canopy”;—Toraṇa crowned by śāla canopy is called a śālatoraṇa. This type of toraṇa is found in plenty. Above the kapota, elegantly shaped model of an oblong pavilion with śāla canopy is carved with almost all the architectural and decorative details. The śāla canopy may be in the form of a regular miniature sala pavilion or only its canopy part.
