Śālaigrāmam is an archaeologically important site situated in Paramagudi-taluk (Ramnad district, Madras), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Śālaigrāmam there is an inscription on the north wall, central shrine of the Varaguṇa-Īśvara temple. It commences with the king’s introduction Pūmaruviya tiruma-ḍandai, etc. Records the gift of 6 mā and odd of land to the temple of god Tirukkūvāṇi-Nāyanār situated east of Sāla-grāmam by the paṇṇaiśeyvār and the veliśeyvār, who were members of the sabhā of Sālagrāmam. The donors further agreed to pay to the ūr all the taxes due on the lands.

This inscription belongs to Māravarman Tribhuvanacharkravartin Sundara-Pāṇḍyadeva of the Pāṇḍya dynasty and is dated 1235 A. C., April 1.
