Tibetan Buddhism (Vajrayana or tantric Buddhism)
sems yin (སེམས་ཡིན) refers to the “mentation” teachings of the Dzogchen.—The “mentality section” (sems-sde) of the rDzogs-chen teaching is divided into two major branches. The one is termed sems-yin, claiming that our experienced reality is mentation, the other is termed sems-phyogs claiming that our experienced reality is “mentation-related” or “mind-dependent”. Tibetan Buddhism includes schools such as Nyingma, Kadampa, Kagyu and Gelug. Their primary canon of literature is divided in two broad categories: The Kangyur, which consists of Buddha’s words, and the Tengyur, which includes commentaries from various sources.
