Satyadṛś (सत्यदृश्).—(°-) (?) , in Divyāvadāna 34.29 satyadṛśaḥ (probably abl. sg., like the prec. udānāt and pārāyaṇāt; one of 4 mss. satyasadṛṣṭaḥ), and (corruptly) satyadṛṣṭaḥ 20.23 (in almost identical context and probably intending the same original text), app. name of some (section of a) Buddhist work. Most of the other names in the list seem to be identifiable with parts of Pali Sn; I have found no equiv- alent for this term. After it come nom. pl. terms, (sthavi- ragāthāḥ) śailagāthā munigāthā arthavargīyāṇi (mss. °ni both times) ca sūtrāṇi.

context information

Sanskrit, also spelled संस्कृतम् (saṃskṛtam), is an ancient language of India commonly seen as the grandmother of the Indo-European language family (even English!). Closely allied with Prakrit and Pali, Sanskrit is more exhaustive in both grammar and terms and has the most extensive collection of literature in the world, greatly surpassing its sister-languages Greek and Latin.
