Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionarysarpīṇa (सर्पीण).—f (sarpa S) A female Coluber or serpent: also a female snake generally. See sarpa. Ex. sarpīṇa vitāṃ pilīṃ khāya || vācaliyā kōṇa māya ||. 2 (Because the snake is wont to dart out its tongue.) The name of a khōḍa or blemish of the horse,--that of putting out his tongue on taking the bit. Ex. lagāma ghētāṃ jībha kāḍhī tō sarpīṇa. sarpīṇa is understood by some jockeys as descriptive of the horse that has a serpentine curl or line on his coat.
