Saptasūrya (सप्तसूर्य, the ‘seven suns’) referred to in the Saṃhitās, are named in the Taittirīya-āraṇyaka as

  1. Aroga,
  2. Bhrāja,
  3. Paṭara,
  4. Pataṅga,
  5. Svarṇara,
  6. Jyotiṣīmant,
  7. and Vibhāsa,

but these occur very rarely even later.
