Saṃyogapṛthaktva (संयोगपृथक्त्व).—severalty of conjunction. This circumstance accounts for one and the same thing being नित्य (nitya) as well as नैमित्तिक (naimittika). In one case it would be नित्य (nitya), in the other it would be नैमित्तिक (naimittika); (ekasya tūbhayatve saṃyogapṛthaktvam MS. 4.3.5; na saṃyogapṛthaktvāt MS.12.1.24.); e. g. दधि (dadhi) is नित्य (nitya) in दध्ना जुहोत्ति (dadhnā juhotti), but नैमित्तिक (naimittika) in दध्ना इन्द्रियकामस्य जुहुयात् (dadhnā indriyakāmasya juhuyāt). This न्याय (nyāya) is discussed and established in MS.4.3.5.7.
