Samutpiñja (समुत्पिञ्ज).—a.

1) Excessively confused or bewildered, disorganized.

-jaḥ, -laḥ, -lakaḥ 1 An army in great disorder; यथा सूर्योदये राजन् समुत्पिञ्जोऽभवन्महान् (yathā sūryodaye rājan samutpiñjo'bhavanmahān) Mahābhārata (Bombay) 7.186.58.

2) Great confusion; ततः सर्वस्य रङ्गस्य समुत्पिञ्जलकोऽभवत् (tataḥ sarvasya raṅgasya samutpiñjalako'bhavat) Mahābhārata (Bombay) 1.135.1 (com. gives another meaning as utphullatā).

(-ñjaḥ-ñjā-ñjaṃ) Excessively confused or confounded, bewildered, lost, overcome. m.

(-ñjaḥ) An army in great disorder. E. sam and ud before piji to hurt, aff. ac; also samutpiñjala, and simply piñja, &c.
