It is a grammatical treatise dealing with the Pali verb and its use in syntax, together with a description of the six karakas used with the verb in the sentence (P.L.C.199). Abhaya Thera of Pagan wrote a tika on it. Bode, op. cit., 22.
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
