sāḍē (साडे).—m pl (sāḍā The name of the garment given on that occasion.) Certain ceremonies about the fourth day after the conclusion of a marriage; comprehending worship of the airiṇī (basket containing hollowed lumps of dough holding oil and lighted wicks), giving articles of apparel to the married couple &c. &c. Hence sāḍē karaṇēṃ g. of o. To finish for; to settle or close the account of; i. e. to turn out of office; or to disgrace, revile, cover with opprobrium &c.

sāḍē (साडे).—pl of sāḍā and from sārdha S Half. Used in conjunction with the numerals from three upwards; as sāḍētīna, sāḍēcāra. Hence used after terms of abuse, implying Half again; half above; beyond, more, greater. Ex. sāḍēśinaḷīcā, sāḍēmātrāgamanī, sāḍēharāmī. sāḍētīna Three and a half. A number set up by this facetious people as a standard of numerical amount and of comparative measurement of certain notable persons and matters. We do not profess to exhaust this department; but some instances are sāḍētīna talavāra (i. e. talavārakarī), sāḍētīna bhālēkarī, sāḍētīna lihaṇāra, and others in order. sāḍēśambhara is a vulgarism (not for 150, but) for 100½.
