如蓮華在水 [ru lian hua zai shui]—Like a lotus flower (莲华 [lian hua]) in water—[Analogy] The Lotus Sūtra (法华经 [fa hua jing]), Chapter "Emergence from the Earth" (涌出品 [yong chu pin]), states: "These sons of the Buddha, their number immeasurable, have long practiced the Buddha-dharma, dwell in supernatural powers, have well learned the Bodhisattva path, are undefiled by worldly dharmas, like a lotus flower in water." This is the gatha (偈文 [ji wen]) by Maitreya Bodhisattva (弥勒菩萨 [mi lei pu sa]) praising the Bodhisattvas Who Emerged from the Earth (地涌菩萨 [de yong pu sa]).
如蓮華在水—【譬喻】法華經涌出品曰:「此諸佛子等,其數不可量,久已行佛道,住於神通力,善學菩薩道,不染世間法,如蓮華在水。」是彌勒菩薩嘆地涌菩薩之偈文也。
