In the imperial examination era, when examiners entered the examination hall to review papers, it was called "rù lián". From Stories to Caution the World, Volume 18, Old Scholar Sang Shizi Repays Kindness Three Times: "It turned out that Xianyu Tong (鮮于同 [xian yu tong]) had seen Kuai Gong (蒯公 [kuai gong]) enter the examination hall on the seventh day of the eighth month, and he thought his chances of success were eighty or ninety percent." Put the corpse into the coffin. From The Scholars Chapter 6: "The whole family cried loudly and prepared for the encoffining, placing the coffin (靈柩 [ling jiu]) in the third-level central hall (中堂 [zhong tang])." From Dream of the Red Chamber Chapter 63: "As the weather is hot now, it is really impossible to wait, so she took the initiative to preside over the matter, ordering the astrologer (天文生 [tian wen sheng]) to choose a date for encoffining."
