rigs lnga (རིགས་ལྔ) refers to the “five Buddha families” (in Tibetan: rigs lnga) and forms part of the “Forty-two Peaceful Deities” (Tibetan: zhi ba'i lha zhe gnyis) according to various sources such as the Guhyagarbha Tantra and the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
The Five Families (rigs lnga) are:
- Buddha family (deshyin shekpé rik),
- Vajra family (rdo rje'i rigs),
- Ratna family (rin chen rigs),
- Padma family (pad ma'i rigs),
- Karma family (las kyi rigs).
rigs lnga (རིགས་ལྔ) in Tibetan refers to the “Five Families” (i.e., “the families of Tantric tradition”). They are: Tathāgata or Buddha, Vajra, Jewel, Lotus and Action family.
