rēṅkaṇēṃ (रेंकणें).—v i ( H or from imitative of the grunt.) To grunt or utter its peculiar cry--a buffalo. 2 fig. To sing, speak, or call out, in a harsh, hoarse, or cracked voice; to sing like an old cow. rēṅkata (karaṇēṃ, bōlaṇēṃ, cālaṇēṃ &c.) (To do, speak, move) in a slow, sluggish, dawdling, drawling, lingering manner. (In this phrase rēṅkata is probably used for rēṅgata, for, except in the conjunction above shown, the verb rēṅkaṇēṃ is not used in the sense of Lingering, poking, dawdling) rēṅkata yēṇēṃ (To come grunting as a buffalo.) To run (to any one) with the eagerness and hurriedness of excited cupidity. Ex. āmhāsa śrīmanta hōūṃ dyā maga kōṇa pāhijē tō rēṅkata yēīla.
