Recerla is one of the ancient dynasties from India (Āndhradeśa or Andhra Pradesh), conquered and subjugated by Gaṇapatideva  (r. 1199-1262 A.D.) who let them rule their territory as an independent māṇḍalika.—Among the māṇḍalikas who served Gaṇapatideva, the Recerla chiefs deserve special mention. They belong to the Reḍḍi caste. Epigraphy and literature supply the data concerning the two families of Recarla chiefs; one family originated from the village Receruvula, where as the second family traces its ancestry to the founder of the family Recaḍi or Receḍla, They served the Kākatīyas from the very beginning with unfailing loyalty.
